FIFA Tackling Tips

Tackling in FIFA is one of the crucial aspects to playing defense and eventually winning more games online and against your friends. It is important to not over commit on a tackle, but to play both passively and aggressively in the right times.

My favorite time to aggressively go for a tackle is right after your opponent has received a pass. This is the perfect time to go after a steal because he still doesn’t have total control of the ball and generally has his back turned towards you.

I would recommend to have a passive tackling approach when your opponent is dribbling the ball and has other options on the field. You would rather have your opponent far away from the goal with looser pressure, compared to tight pressure and the ability to make a move on you leading to an easy goal.

When in a tight battle for the ball, try to push up against your opponent and shove him off of the ball. This is a great aggressive tackling method that works great for me and can generally lead to a change of possession.

Always try to have a deep defender that can bail you out if you make a defensive mistake. A mix of aggression and passiveness is the perfect mix when it comes to defense in FIFA.
